Investment Team.
Matthew Hochstetler, Chief Investment Officer
Matt Hochstetler is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of First Principles Global Capital. He has more than 20 years of investment experience across global markets, with a focus on concentrated, valuation-disciplined public-equity investing.
Before founding First Principles Global Capital, Matt was a Partner and Equity Portfolio Manager at Capital Group. During more than 12 years at Capital Group, he invested across global markets. Earlier, he researched companies in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Greece as an Investment Analyst before becoming a Portfolio Manager in 2017. Before Capital Group, he was a Portfolio Manager and Equity Analyst at Janus Capital and worked at Bain & Company and Chase Capital Partners.
Matt is an Executive Fellow at Harvard Business School and an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University, where he teaches an annual short one week course in investment management. He earned an MBA with high distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar, and a BSFS in International Finance and Economics, magna cum laude with departmental honors and Phi Beta Kappa, from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

Interactive Brokers provides institutional brokerage, trade execution, clearing, custody, and reporting services for the Fund. Interactive Brokers, a Nasdaq-listed member of the S&P 500, served 5.46 million fund and individual client accounts, holding $962.8 billion in client equity as of August 2026.
